One Thing - 1/31/15

We made some moon sand this morning and the kids got to enjoy some messy play. Fun was had by all (except maybe Daddy, who swept and vacuumed the floor and chairs when he came home for lunch)!

One Thing - 1/25/15

Lydia wanted to have a picnic. So, we ate popcorn sitting on the kitchen floor and discussed Frozen. It was a sweet time. Minutes later she was quite upset at me for saying that pjs and pajamas were the same thing. Apparently, her pjs are yucky but her pajamas are just fine. Oh the life of a two-year-old girl!

This is how a monkey loving boy sleeps on the bottom bunk of a bunk bed -

One Thing - 1/23/15

We enjoyed story hour at the library this morning. The theme was what we wear out in the winter weather.

One Thing - 1/21/15

Lego instructions organization has been a frustrating task for me. The boys love to look at their booklets and have left them all over our house. They get stepped on, ripped, lost, and smashed between other books. Probably almost a year ago, I took away most of their instructions because they needed taping, and I needed a new plan. The boys have been asking for them back daily now for a week or two. So, last night as I walked on the treadmill I googled Lego instruction organization and read about 20 blog posts on the topic. Thankfully I discovered that I am not the only Mom frustrated with this issue. And, thankfully, I think I found a solution. Because of the boys' building styles and personalities, I decided to put each page of the instructions into a sheet protector and then put the pages into a binder. This is going to be quite the task, but I really think this is going to solve the problems we have had and hopefully keep our Lego instructions safe for the many, many years of Lego building ahead of us.

Both Jonah and Silas are loving it!

One Thing - 1/19/15

When moved into our house, there was an old corded phone on the wall in our breakfast nook. We have talked about taking it down but just haven't done it. Jude has found that he really likes playing with the cord. So, we may need to leave it there for a bit!

I guess if it won't snow outside we will just have to make our own inside!

One Thing - 1/16/15

One day it's losing a top tooth and the next it's tying shoes.

These precious days are flying by!

One Thing - 1/14/15

"Mommy, look! It's Baby Lydia!"

For quite some time now, I have been struck by how much Lydia looks like my mom when she was a toddler. I have this picture frame sitting on my dresser with a picture of my mom as a little girl on the left and my dad as a little boy on the right. Lydia noticed the frame for the first time this morning and thought it was a picture of herself!

One Thing - 1/11/15

Sometimes when one gets busy with laundry and 3 other children, baby #4 is unintentionally left watching football by himself!

One Thing - 1/4/15

"Mama, I need a stool. I can't reach it. It's on top. I can't reach it."

"What do you need?"

"The Bible. I need to read it. I need to read it, Mama."

"Thank you, Mama! Thank you! Thank you!"

Anytime, sweet girl. Anytime.

One Thing - 1/3/15

Whew! I climb into bed tonight exhausted! Our messy house after Christmas has been so in need of attention. I spent the day cleaning up and doing laundry (9 loads washed, dried, and folded! Still waiting to be put away though). There are still suitcases to be unpacked but everything else is looking at least a little better.

The living room before:
This pic was from Christmas Eve...it got much worse than this!

After:

Jonah spent some time with a new toy - snap circuits. He is learning a lot, and I am trying to remember high school
 physics.

Lydia loves this new-to-her sweatshirt. This morning she told me it had "nice pockets" then proceeded to tell me "there's no phone in my pocket." Sorry sweet girl, it's going to be a long time before you are carrying a phone!
